OLD SCHOOL GRIND VS NEW SCHOOL TECHNOLOGY

ASHER ROTH, CHARLES HAMILTION, MARV & CASH, B.O.B. ...these are just a few names to look out for. This is the new school. Today's topic is based simply on that "New School". Now its lots of older well known artist who state that hip hop is lost, not what it was, or dead even. When in all actuality its becoming better than it ever was. Unfortunately its lots of older artist who have grown accustom to the traditional way of doing things and are unable to adapt to the music industry's changes. We know now have the Internet which allows us to sell our music from home instead of the trunk of our cars. You can sell your product to kids in China without leaving the bedroom of your home. This eliminates a mass amount of overhead for the independent artist. Think about, 1000 compact disc and fliers cost you about $1000.00 at least. Where at the cost of creating a Jpeg, a compress zip file, and a myspace cost close to nothing and sells the same cd. There is also blogsites and online communities that allow you to communicate with thousands of consumers world wide to build your fan base. My point in saying this is because I want you to understand this is a new age....a digital age. If you don't adapt to it then you will be lost. Its not just because of the kids that the names I mention earlier are surviving this beast we call the music industry, its also the fact that they utilize the Internet in every way possible. The blogs, myspace, viral videos, it all allows them to communicate with the consumer on a more personal level. Over 60% of people do their shopping online. In a little while compact disc aren't going to exist. So what do you do when the consumer no longer buys your product from the device or source that you sell it by? Let me break it down for you, you can't sell 8 tracks in a cd store.....ya feel me. Does that make sense? Get with it or get lost. Now we all have respect for the older generation, you have to. If it wasn't for them we wouldn't be here. So don't get this blog twisted its not a diss to the older generation. No, this is me using my knowledge to spread light on things. This is what I'm saying its a new way of grinding. I'm not saying its better, I'm saying that this new way is more compatible to the process consumer use to make purchases this day and time. What worked back in the day was good for back in the day. But the grind has evolved, the same as everything does. Therefore we need to follow the Asher Roth's, Hamilton's, Marv & Cash's, and etc. of this game.....because this is what works now.

Look, I'm an artist...a good one at that. I love hip hop. Its my culture. So when we overdo something I have to speak on it ya dig!! And what I think that hip hop has had enough of are...well just read the top 5 for the week.


5) HIP HOP HAS WORN OUT: Dances!! I mean we all like to club and have fun, but come on man. As an artist it should be a little more you can do than make a new damn dance every weak. JUST GIVE IT A REST!!

4) HIP HOP HAS WORN OUT: Champagne bottles. Yall ain't alcoholics yet?

3) HIP HOP HAS WORN OUT: BEEF!! Its real funny how an artist begins to hate the world around the time he has a new single dropping. For real man, that's old. Just let your music speak for itself. If you need to beef with someone in order for the fans to notice you then what does that say about your skills as an artist? And furthermore beef is real where we from. Saying something over wax can get you in that ER room ya dig.

2) HIP HOP HAS WORN OUT: Swagger!!!! True, lots of people have it ya dig. But come on man. With the exception of "Swagger Like Us", I don't think I can tolerate one more song about swagger. Let it go. Give it a break. Please!!

1) HIP HOP HAS WORN OUT: Auto-Tune!! Personally if you ain't Teddy Riley, Zapp Rogers, or T- Pain....well....you can do the rest. On top of that listen to your own work. If you and no one around you can understand what you are saying due to the amount of auto tune that you are using then maybe you should leave it alone. Oh yeah....and auto-tune is a protool plug in used for recording vocals. It is not a magic button that all of a sudden makes you some great R&B singer. YOU GOT ME!!

CHRIS BROWN AND RHIANNA GET INTO IT

Bloggers, followers, and readers...what's good. I'm sure you heard by now what's popping right? Word is Chris Breezy got into with his girlfriend Rhianna. Now I ain't one to judge or say what's going on. Actually I don't think any of us should. Let me explain myself. Diddy was on the front cover of I think a New York newspaper for stepping in dog shit. Paris Hilton became an international star for making a porno flick. The point that I'm making is that when you do something you just do it. When a celeb does it, its blown out of portion. Now if Breezy laid hands on shorty then YES, he wrong and should be dealt with. Where I'm from real men don't put their hands on females. Now its another side of that ya dig! They could have had an heated argument and he might have grabbed and the media and everyone else blew it out of proportion. WE DON'T KNOW!!! You understand what I'm saying. Reports: Rihanna 'Identified as Victim' in Chris Brown Assault

Pop star Rihanna has been named as the alleged victim in the domestic violence investigation involving her boyfriend Chris Brown, according to Internet reports.
Brown, 19, turned himself into police on Sunday for making criminal threats after getting into a heated fight with a then-unidentified woman in a vehicle in Los Angeles earlier that day.
Police have so far refused to officially release a statement indicating the victim's identity, but new images and documents suggest Rihanna is at the center of the claims.
According to TMZ.com, crime reports indicate the victim's name is Robyn Fenty, Rihanna's birth name.
Brown was also photographed behind the wheel of a rented Lamborghini with Rihanna in the passenger seat after the pair attended music mogul Clive Davis' pre-Grammy Gala in Beverly Hills on Saturday, just hours before the alleged incident.
The police report states, "After stopping his car, Brown and the woman got out and the argument escalated. The woman suffered visible injuries and identified Brown as her attacker."
Brown was released from custody after posting $50,000 bail on Sunday evening.
Both stars canceled their scheduled performances at Sunday's Grammy Awards.
The case is being presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office, when additional charges may be filed.
Brown is due in court on March 5, and he has hired attorney Mark Geragos to fight his case. Geragos is best known for defending Winona Ryder after her 2001 arrest for shoplifting, and Michael Jackson during his child molestation trial.
